CONSTRUCTION NEWCOMER EMPLOYMENT AND CAREER TRAINING (CONNECT)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The CONNECT Program is a FREE 26-week training program specifically developed to assist Newcomer clients who are interested in increasing their English language skills to gain full-time employment in entry level and general labourer construction positions.

This program is for newcomers with a minimum CLB language level 3. Full-time CONNECT program is 16 weeks in-class English support and 10 weeks construction training.

Program includes:

  • Health and Safety Training, Life and Employability Skills (includes Guest speakers)
  • Canadian workplace culture
  • Help with finding and keeping a construction job

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ontario Works clients
  • 18 years of age or older at the time of registration
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Be willing and able to work and complete the program
  • Have a referral form from a TESS Case Worker or Ontario Works Liaison Worker
  • Grade 10 minimum
